Alot of great comments here (thank you!) and some questions. Pointers:

1. When you refer to sugar, be sure to distinguish it from REFINED, WHITE SUGAR, which is the poison I was writing about

2. I included a table of 26 different hidden names for sugar. You may want to print it and take it to the store with you!

3. Honey is a big question. Yes, it is a sugar. Some of it is very good for you, some is not. Refer to Maryam Heinen's site - Honey Colony - for a lot of great information. Maryam is a frequent contributor to The Tenpenny Files (www.Vaxxter.com) - see our sister site for good article.

Excellent write-up about sugar, Dr. Sherri! I read "The Case Against Sugar", by Gary Taubes when it was released in 2016. It was so good I re-read it just recently (something I NEVER do). He does an amazing job discussing not only the adverse effects of this dangerous substance, but goes into detail about the history and describes just how detrimental this simple ingredient has been to all of humanity, not just physically, but politically, economically, and when considering slavery, I'd say spiritually.

What about stevia? It is a leaf that is ground to make a sugar substitute that is very sweet. Is it safe?

Why is sugar so addictive?? My mother was addicted to sugar and now husband is! I was finally able to quit most sugar - not all - a couple of years ago. I still love my dark chocolate though!!

Sugar consumption primarily triggers the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward, in the brain. Dopamine plays a role in the brain's reward system and is involved in regulating feelings of pleasure and motivation.

Great article Doctor T.

I stopped eating refined sugar and eliminated almost all starches from my diet. Then discovered "IF" about halfway through a 1 year period and lost over 100 pounds. I was totally addicted to sweets AND starches of all kinds.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 COPD and told to get my affairs in order back in 2015. That's when my eating really got out of control and I gained an enormous amount of weight, thinking what difference did it make since I was going to die anyway; wallowing in my own self pity.

Then I met a wonderful man in 2020 who helped me realize the doctors were apparently wrong and the Lord had other ideas. That's when I started changing my life around and lost all the weight. He gave me something to live for. We have been married for almost 3 years now and I will be 73 years old very soon. We eat almost all organic food and eat homecooked meals, almost never eating out.

They're trying to kills us all in one way or another! The more money they can make off of us while they do it the happier they are.

Your story is inspirational for a lot of reasons, including getting married at 70! My husband passed 10 years ago and have continued to pray for another God-fearing companion.

That old saying "God works in mysterious ways" was never more true in our lives.

I was single for over 20 years after becoming a Christian and resigned myself to the fact that I would live out the rest of my life alone; dedicating myself to my Saviour Jesus Christ and God's word.

I wasn't looking for a relationship at all and neither was my husband. He had been dedicated to the Lord for over 10 years when we met through an online ministry we both supported. It was the word of God that drew us together and it is our mutual bond.

One of THE BEST online documentaries on sugar and its detrimental effects is "The Skinny on Obesity" by Dr. Robert Lustig, whom Dr. Tenpenny may have heard of.

After watching this, I remember thinking that if I ever eat another piece of processed food, I'm a fool. That was 10 years ago... and to this day I don't eat that junk or drink anything but water.

Love you to death, but who is your proof reader? "You're sweet tooth may be killing you" means "you are sweet tooth may be killing you". It should be "your".

Thank you, Dr. Tenpenny for your thorough research on sugar! I also appreciate that you were specific and made distinguishment of the variations of sugar.

Many health gurus seem to love to incite fear-mongering in their approach to sugar. They present all sugar is "bad" and if you eat any sugar, your health is permanently doomed. Such health gurus seem to refuse to make any distinguishment from refined sugar, raw sugar, natural sugar, sucrose, fructose, and galactose.

Once again, thank you Dr. Tenpenny for the clarity of information on sugar!

Is this a move to have sugar let high fructose corn syrup off the hook?

Because the liver converts all the fructose it can into fat that is deposited for survival purposes, it produces obesity and destroys health more reliably than any other form of sugar could.

Great information. It is frightening how much sugar and flour are added to our foods. Once I started cutting these out of my diet, I didn't crave them at all.

An uncle of mine used to put about 4 teaspoons of sugar in a cup of coffee. The stuff is also confusing to our taste buds in that by doing this he thought he had to have that much.

Years ago I used to put a teaspoon in my coffee then quit using it altogether in the 70s. I had a coffee pot on all day in my leather shop and sugar and coffee mate handy for customers to help themselves. One college student coming in daily was using half a cup of sugar at a time. I asked his friend why he did that. He said he is living on that and stealing food from C stores because his wealthy parents cut him off of financial aid because he started living with a girlfriend. I soon removed that free coffee pot.

What’s a reasonable goal in daily sugar intake if it’s mostly from non refined sugar sources? I am trying to keep it to less than 30 Grams per day. IE they come from the carbohydrates I consume. And not from soda sweets etc.

Google a lecture called “sugar the bitter truth” by Robert Lustig. He is excellent speaker and he goes through how the body metabolizes sugars and how fructose is metabolized exactly as alcohol and how it’s a poison.

replace refined sugar with a piece of fresh fruit or even a glass of water when you have the craving. You're reeducating your body. Good job!!
