My husband had mild Covid in June 2022 and since then has had intermittent bouts of Phantosmia, but they are getting progressively worse a year and a half later. Everything smells like an electrical fire. It is driving him crazy. Any new fixes out there?

I had a mild case of cv19 in December 2019. I didn’t lose my sense of smell or taste; but, since then I have a problem with nasal and throat mucus. It is extremely annoying. Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

Dr. Ardis's wife regained her sense of smell after chewing Nicorette gum for three days. Chewing only 5 minutes at a time I "think" 2-3 times a day.

Wow. Very thorough. I myself had a very mild case of covid and haven't had a normal smell or taste since. I seem to experience all of the symptoms since November of 21. I have found I would have a few brief moments where I could smell something as it should be after using prednisone for another issue. I searched for info and found conflicting reports on the effects of steroid use to improve the sense of smell. I have seen a NP and she advised using a heavy dose of vitamin a and zinc and 3 to 5 days id be able to smell.. I cannot. Im very hopeful you have some effective advice as to how to help this frustrating condition. Thank you for this article. I, a person who didn't care to make the most of my education was able to really understand how it was written.

I was fascinated to read in this article that peppermint is considered one of the primary smells. Ten months ago I lost something like 80% of my ability to smell following a mild case of COVID. But peppermint (and perhaps onion, and perhaps certain coconut-pineapple smells) are smells that I still can perceive.

I have been affected greatly. I had zero taste and smell for 4 mo now the last 5mo I am dealing with severe Parosmia and Dysgeusia ... what can be done to help those of us affected? Is it just time to heal? I pray this is not permanent damage. I am hardly able to eat anything as everything tastes like rotten garbage.

I lost my sense of smell completely when I got COVID last December, and it returned a month or so later. But around May, I developed parosmia, and still now in September, many, many odors smell abnormal--like a chemical smell. Basil and coffee, for example, are things I used to love to smell. Now they smell terrible. I'm hoping I will recover, but I worry this is indicative of some long-term neurological damage. I hope Dr. Tenpenny will give us some help recovering from this in her next article. Does anyone know how common it is to recover and then have a relapse with olfactory problems?

Wow, this is so good and informative. My mom and sister had C19 last year and still have not regained their sense of smell. I love your explanation of the cilia. We can pray and ask God to heal these little cilias, so they can smell God’s beautiful bouquet of life. 🙏🏼 I love your writing. Blessing on your day. 💕

PS I just joined. I love reading your posts while watching the sunrise. It’s a perfect way to start the day. 🌸💞
