At the end of September, Epoch Health published an article highlighting a recent study that focused on the cause of autism. The meta-analysis of 25 autism studies became one more piece of evidence shifting the focus away from genetic causes to epigenetic/environmental causes for autism, tying changes in the colonic microbiome to symptoms of autism. The article referenced this very long and complicated analysis of datasets.
“Genetic diseases aren’t responsible for epidemics,” Dr. Arthur Krigsman, a specialist who treats children with ASD around the world, told The Epoch Times. “There’s something in the environment that’s triggering a gene that otherwise would be silent. There is no gene responsible for an epidemic.”

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Krigsman earned his MD in 1989 from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine. After completing his pediatric residency and pediatric gastroenterology fellowships, he worked at Beth Israel Medical Center in NY through 2000, then at Lenox Hill Hospital through 2004. He subsequently left to work as the director at Thoughtful House, where he was colleagues with Andrew Wakefield. In April 2010, Krigsman left Thoughtful House to open private practices in Austin and New York.
After working with Andy Wakefield for six years and seeing a myriad of vaccine-injured children, he says autism is caused by “something” that is an environmental trigger?
Good grief.
What about the 23 doses of vaccine, containing at least 90 antigens, that infants get by 1 year of age? And now, even the COVID-19 experimental jab has been added to the schedule as an optional, annual jab, starting at six months of age.
And then consider the 100+ ingredients: metals, chemicals, foreign proteins, adventitious (stray) viruses, cow blood, chicken parts, dog kidney cells, and more.
The Centers for Disease Control released statistics in April that showed the latest autism rate was 1 in 36 children in 2020, up from 1 in 44 in 2018, and 1 in 150 in 2000.
Maybe what’s coming through that needle is the “something” Dr. Krigman is referring to.
Epigenetics = Environmental toxicities
Toxicities that are biological and chemical can interfere with physiology. The connection between the GI tract and the brain has been discussed for more than 40 years. This study of the hormonal regulation of digestion led to the discovery that the gut and the brain have similar hormones, giving rise to the concept of a gut-brain axis. Literally hundreds of investigative papers have been published over the decades connecting the health of the intestinal tract with various neurological conditions including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, various mental health disorders, adolescent psychiatric illnesses, and more. It should not be surprising to find a connection between autism and environmental disruptors including air pollutants, artificial foods and toxic ingredients, glyphosate, medications, and even work or school stress, which can cause a cascade of changes in the body. All exert influence by changing the microbiome.
What can be done?
It’s quite obvious that the place to start is with the diet.
The connection between gluten/dairy and abnormal behaviors has been published and talked about for years. Data has shown that inadequate or abnormally metabolized casein from cow’s milk or gluten from wheat can form opioid-like compounds referred to as casomorphins and gluteomorphins, respectively. These two compounds can activate the central nervous system, resulting in autistic-like symptoms. A study published in 2000 found high levels of IgG antibodies to gliadin (wheat) were found in 87% of autistics and high levels of IgG antibodies to bovine casein (cow’s milk/dairy) were found in 90% of autistics.

I know a lot is being said about dairy and do not have it in the diet . What about organic grass fed home made kefir - should one stay away from that if battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma as an adult or small grandchildren in reg diet ?
