This was a very informational discussion that alerted me to changes coming to original Medicare that I chose, have paid more for and been very happy with. Medicare Advantage is more like being a HMO member and the kind of medicine dispensed at that nationally known HMO came close to destroying my health. The one saving grace is that they lie to themselves and each other as much as they lie to us. Just because they claim something does not mean it is real. They lie, cheat and steal as a methodology to achieve power. Why would they ever tell the truth? The Truth is our foundation for logical decision-making to overcome and resist the lies.

That history involving JFK/LBJ is alarming. The part about it being age discrimination. The part about third-party payment systems favoring the payers over those either giving or receiving the care. The part about allowing competition (markets).
Game Theory research shows that a mandatory (you cannot opt out) Public Goods Game devolves into a Tragedy of the Commons. That research shows why MediCare was going to go broke, even before it was tried. The most expensive care you will ever receive is "free care."
