The Meat Institutes in both America and Europe have known since at least the 1970s about the health problems caused by sodium nitrites - which make pork pink - and are commonly added (injected) into cured meats, hot dogs, bacon, sausage, ham, and smoked fish. What the Food Industry has done to adulterate our food has been going on for a long time.
