I lived in Dunedin from 2003 to 06. As an American I saw the contrast between Kiwi's and The US. The " tall poppy" kept the New Zealanders in line. Even here it was a very hostile environment if you didn't buy into the fear narrative. I'm sorry you lost your career but congratulations for being courageous.
